Location of the Painted DesertTo come and visit this lovely land you will need to know it's Location the glorious Grand Canyon state also is the home to the Painted Desert. Because I fly in from the United Kingdom a fly drive was my choice picking up a car from Los Angeles LAX airport and just hitting the road and going where I wanted and when I wanted has always been my favoured way of enjoying the United States. I didn't even know that the Painted Desert existed as my aim was to see the Grand Canyon with my family and that was superb but on heading east after a great time I stumbled on this amazing scenic educational wonderland. If like myself you are arriving from outside the United States it is probably easier to use Los Angeles airport and either get a car and drive or take an internal flight. By Air... if you are coming into the United States on a international flight then you may want to consider using Los Angeles LAX or San Francisco airports and picking up a rental car from there. On the other hand if you reside within the United States you could either drive yourself or take an internal flight. Any one of these airports are easily within a days drive. Sky Harbor International Airport serves Phoenix, Arizona McCarran International Airport serves Las Vegas, Nevada Salt Lake City International Airport serves Salt Lake City, Utah Albuquerque International Sunport serves Albuquerque, New Mexico Tucson International Airport serves Tucson, Arizona Denver International Airport serves Denver, Colorado El Paso International Airport which is near the border with southern Arizona By Car... coming here from the west is nice and easy if not somewhat tedious as you will be on Interstate 40 just about all the way until reaching your Location at Holbrook. I have linked full driving directions from LAX airport. From the East... again very easy as you will be on Interstate 40 again all of the way this time heading west. Full driving directions from Albuquerque International Sunport are linked here. From the South... I have provided a link for you which is a lot shorter than using the Interstates from Tucson, but if you would rather stay with the Interstates then it is pretty straight forward use Interstate 10 all the way to Phoenix and follow the signs to Interstate 17 heading north into Flagstaff, once there pick up Interstate 40 east and follow the last few instructions on the coming from the west link to reach your Location at Holbrook. Driving directions from Tucson International Airport are linked here. From the North... is a bit more complicated so I have given directions as if you were coming from Salt Lake City as soon as you cross into Arizona on Interstate 40 you will pass through Apache and then Navajo indian land. Driving directions from Salt Lake City International Airport are linked here. I have also provided directions from Las Vegas McCarren International Airport as it would be a shame not to take a peek at the Grand Canyon while you are here.
